Arcadia Glasshouse opens in Madison Village

If you’ve been considering a greenhouse as an addition to your garden, your best resource has just moved to Madison Village.

Arcadia GlassHouse celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 3. The company began operations on July 15, designing high-quality, innovative greenhouses.

The manufacturer specializes in greenhouse designs made with glass or polycarbonate glazing supported by aluminum frames. They also design conservatories and offer greenhouse supplies. Schools, parks and residential homes are the company’s biggest customers, according to owner Jeff Kenyon.

Arcadia GlassHouse has constructed designs for the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Holden Arboretum in Kirtland and the Cincinnati Zoo.
 
The company began in 1980 and has officially set up manufacturing operations at 354 N. Lake St. in Madison Village. It previously had a building in Painesville Township.

Kenyon, a Lake County native, said the reception received in Madison Village has been a welcoming experience.

“I got a card in the mail from one of the local businesses just welcoming me to the neighborhood,” Kenyon noted. “The people went out of the way to say welcome, so I really feel a strong sense of community here and I want to be a loyal, long-term businessperson here to help the community grow.”
Village Administrator Dwayne Bailey said the addition of Arcadia GlassHouse is just one of several new businesses joining the village in the past year. Those new businesses have combined for more than 80 jobs, Bailey said.
Arcadia GlassHouse currently employs 10 and is recruiting two more. About half of its staff lives in the Madison area, Kenyon said.
“This is kind of a culmination of a lot of work that council and the mayor have put into economic development in our community,” Bailey said. “Our goal is to generate enough commerce that we can continue to provide services and take care of the community without raising taxes. It’s a cool community and I think Jeff saw that, and we’re glad to have that in our community right now.”
